Graphite Electrodes EGT-2500 are used for anodic grounding in cathodic protection system for underground metallic elements affected by the soil corrosion.

Design Features and Specifications

Service life of the whole cathodic protection system depends on the quality of the grounding anodes. An Electrode EGT-2500 is used to supply current to the soil in cathodic protection station. With negative cathodic potential at the protected element, anodic destruction (corrosion) occurs at the artificially introduced electrode. The element dissolves in the environment, thus protecting the metal elements from corrosion impact. Anodic consumption rate is an important parameter of grounding anodes.

• Graphite basis of the device provides slow anode dissolution even in highly aggressive media.
• EGT-2500 is highly resistant: its ultimate resistance in compression is min 35 MPa.
• This protection element consists of 2,500 mm long tube (EGT-2500 label) and protected current collector made from impervious graphite.
• The device is designed to be installed underground either horizontally or vertically. The electrode can also be mounted in wells at the max. depth of 100 meters. This minimizes the costs on the cathodic protection systems. Underground installation protects a great number of underground facilities – this requires less space than installation on the surface.

Maintenance

• The electrode should be mounted right near the cathodic protection station.
• It is necessary to read the device Datasheet and Safety Requirements prior the electrode start-up. Only trained personnel can install the device.
