Bimetal Reference Electrodes EDB-2P

Bimetal Reference Electrode EDB-2P is used to control the quality of electrochemical cathodic protection for the metallic underground constructions and parts of the buildings.

Operating Principle and Design

• The sensor is used as a standard reference electrode: it creates and measures the potential difference between a protected element and soil.
• The equipment withstands extreme wear due to the presence of two metals – EDB-2P is a titanium plate in a copper protective cover. It withstands great loads and can be used at great depth.
• There is no liquid electrolyte, which maintains a stable voltage for a very long time. Service life is guaranteed to be more than 10 years.
• Reference Electrode EDB-2P is additionally equipped with special potential sensor which measures polarized potentials of the protected elements of a building.

Maintenance Recommendations

Prior installation please read the Datasheet and Maintenance Guidelines, including the Chapter on Safety Rules.

• Prior its start-up, make sure the elements are integral, have no damages and are kept in a non-metallic bowl with neutral aqueous electrolyte for about 24 hours.
• The sensor is vertically mounted in significantly saturated soil deep down to the level of low part of pipeline or reservoir which is protected. Then it is buried with oversaturated soil with no large particles.
• With strong electric noises it is necessary to have additional sheild for the cable connected to the test station.
